The Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center located in Muskegon's P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, will host the Gillette Nature Association's 25th annual spring native plant sale on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 9am-3pm.

Due to the overwhelming demand for spring woodland wildflowers such as white trillium, the Gillette Nature Association is offering an opportunity for individuals to reserve in advance the plants they want. Pre-orders will be accepted until March 31st. Pre-ordering plants makes an excellent gift for the hard to buy for gardener on your gift list. A pre-order form is available here. Just complete and mail in with your check.

All plants will be delivered to the Gillette Visitor Center at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. Pre-ordered plants will be available for pick-up on April 30th.

This year we are offering the option of placing pre-orders online using your credit card. Add the items you want to order by clicking on the "Add to Cart" buttons. You can adjust quanitities and continue shopping or checkout. When you are finished selecting your plants you can click "View Cart" to review you order and checkout.

During the public sale, on May 1 additional native plant varieties will be available for those who come early to shop. The Visitor Center staff will be offering special programs and hikes on the day of the sale. Exhibits on many aspects of native gardening will also be available that day.

A State Park Motor Vehicle Permit is required for entry to the state park. Those purchasing plants are required to have a motor vehicle permit to enter the park on the plant pick-up day and for the public sale on May 1. Your MVP purchase is one significant way in which you can support the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan State Parks. When you purchase an annual motor vehicle permit it provides you access to over 90 state parks for one year, and is an act of stewardship that says you are proud to be a part of Michigan's natural resource legacy.
